Red-eared slider

Trachemys scripta elegans

The most distinguishing characteristic of red-eared sliders are the red blotches that extends from behind their eyes and past the ears. Their upper shells and skin have mixed patterns of yellow and black lines and spots. Some older males can develop dark pigmentation that hides the lines and spots of their skin and shells.
